Organistrum The earliest form of hurdy gurdy family, it appeared in iconography from the 10th to the 15th centuries. The first versions often were played by two persons, ours can be played by one or two, has 3 strings and has chromatic capabilities and a wide variety of tuning and playing options. Structurally the organistrum has the keywork attached to the soundbox, not on top of it as on the later hurdy-gurdy. The instrument is also associated with the church, monastic music, and the rise of organum.

Hurdy-Gurdy, Model Minnesinger Cherry or Walnut Wood Based on 13th century designs, with one melody and two drone strings. The Minnesinger sounds beautiful at various tunings and is suitable for solo or ensemble use. The diatonic keyboard has programable tangents. It features a steel shaft, precision gold-plated gear-tuners, trued wheel, brass bearings and built-in cotton & rosin containers. The keyboard shafts, tangents, keyshaft-guides, keyboard buttons and shoulderstrap buttons are precision molded. The Minnesinger body is made of mulberry with a Sitka Spruce sounding board.

While basically a diatonic instrument, any tangent can be rotated up to a semi-tone to the left or right for playing in different modes. (Major, minor, or modal, as the need may be.)

To facilitate playing, Do-Fa-Do (3rd, 6th, & 10th) Key-Buttons and Tangents are identified with contrasting colors and tactile feed-back. When playing, a slightly downward tilted instrument allows keys to fall back to root position by gravity. Includes a hardcase, shoulder strap, and tuning- and playing- instructions.

Bassgurdy A true one of a kind, available no where else in the world (at least that we know of)! The incredible Bassgurdy offers a deep, resonant, cello like sound with nearly infinite sustain. Triple strung, pentatonic fretted, and tuned in perfect fifths (like a strumstick or dulcimer), it produces beautiful harmony melodies over chordal drones. Use DAA as a standard tuning starting point. Each individual string can be displaced, allowing for single, pair, or triple strings play. Each is crafted by hand in the USA, incorporating select hardwoods, with a Spruce soundboard and exotic hardwoods fretboard and fittings.
