Student Dizi - Chinese Bamboo Transverse Flute Pronounced "dee-dzuh". Bamboo flute, with membrane hole. Key varies according to stock, bright sound. Pipa A D E A tuning is the traditional tuning; originally strings were silk, now nylon or composite. Played with fingernails (often with special “fingernail” picks) in a style similar to flamenco. Large Sanxian Pronounced “san-shyen” means “3 strings” ancestor of Japanese shamisen fretless long neck, played with pick or fingers composite strings. A closely related musical instrument is the Japanese shamisen, which is derived from the sanxian but which generally uses cat or dog skin rather than snakeskin to cover its resonator. Even more closely related is the Okinawan sanshin, which is also covered in snakeskin. Temple Block #3 Temple blocks, also known as wooden fish, are made of a hollow wooden block, and were originally used by Buddhist priests to beat rhythm when chanting scriptures. Good Student Model Erhu Pronounced almost like English words "are who?", in Cantonese Yi-wu (yee-woo). This a great quality instrument at a very competitive price for those wishing to learn how to play. The sound box is covered in the traditional manner with snake skin. The student model uses conventional friction tuning and does not include fine tuners. Measures 32 x 5 inches. Tuned: DA. Green Jade Flute Wonderful flutes made of solid jade. 20" long, pitched in the key of A, (other keys: D,G, and B available sometimes). These flutes are well in tune, have wonderful tone and are amazing to look at and hold. 6 holes and embouchure hole with an extra hole for a vibrating membrane that adds an incredible tone color to the flute. If you don't want to use the membrane you may put a piece of tape over the hole. The flutes with the membrane are traditional to China and called Dizi. The membrane is the pith from the inside of bamboo (included). Easily attached with a little white glue or traditionally with some juice from a garlic clove.
